From June 20 to September 27, 2026, the Hôtel Départemental des Expositions du Var in Draguignan, France, is hosting 157 archaeological objects from ancient Peru, all from the Museo Larco collection, as part of the exhibition “Inca. L'héritage sacré des Andes” (“Inca. The Sacred Heritage of the Andes”).

This exhibition explores how the diverse pre-Inca Andean cultures influenced the development and consolidation of the Inca Empire, known as Tahuantinsuyo. Their conceptions of ecosystems, religion, and power reveal a close relationship between social organization and the sacred. These worldviews shaped an understanding of the natural environment as a space imbued with spiritual meaning. They also laid the foundations for political and ritual practices that the Incas inherited and transformed. In this way, the exhibition invites visitors to recognize the continuity and adaptation of this knowledge in the shaping of the Andean world.
